Frank K. Tatro, 79

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Frank Kenneth Tatro, 79, of Clarksburg died Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. 

He was born in Clarksburg on June 29, 1938, the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Savage) Tatro. He attended schools in Clarksburg and North Adams, where he attended Drury High School. He was decorated veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. 

Frank was employed as a union heavy equipment operator for many of the major highways and roads construction companies in the area. He was a longtime member of the Melha Shriners in Springfield, Commandery of Knight Templar York Cross, Lafayette-Greylock Lodge of Masons in North Adams and Naomi Chapter No. 17 Order of the Eastern Star. He also was a member of the North Adams Frank R. Stiles Post #125 American Legion, North Adams Elks Lodge #487 and the Cheshire Rod & Gun Club. 

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his cats. 

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Shand and her husband Richard of Clarksburg; three grandchildren, Jessica Lincoln of North Adams and Allison and Christopher Shand of Clarksburg; one great-grandchild, Takia Tatro; one sister, Nancy Banas and her husband Edward of North Adams; as well as two nephews, Allen Peck of Texas and Kyle Peck of Pittsfield. 

He was predeceased by a nephew, Marc LaVigne. 

Funeral notice: Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted Friday, September 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the family plot in Clarksburg Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the Shiners' Children Hospital through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, Mass.
