NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Lillian A. (Goyette) Godbout, 92, of North Adams, Mass., died on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the North Adams Commons. 

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on September 14, 1925, a daughter of Emile Joseph and Nellie (Shays) Goyette. She attended schools in North Adams, including Drury High School. Lillian was employed as an inspector at the Hoosac Mill in North Adams and also worked at the JJ Newberry Store on Main Street. 

Mrs. Godbout was a communicant of the former Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church but also active at St. Francis and then St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church after the yoking of the four North Adams churches. She was a member of the St. Francis Bowling Team and the Emblem Club. She enjoyed the Craft Club at the Spitzer Center and was an active member of the Mohawk Forest Garden Club.

Mrs. Godbout was the widow of Ernest J. Godbout Sr.  They were married on August 25, 1945. Mr. Godbout died June 12, 1994. 

Survivors include her daughter, Marianne Rosenburg and her husband, Kevin, of North Adams; a son, Ernest J. Godbout Jr. and his wife, Sharyn, of Clarksburg; five grandchildren, Claudine Burchard and her husband, Gary, Christine Godbout, Casey Alcombright and her husband, Eric Lavoie, the Rev. Matthew Alcombright, pastor of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish in Springfield, Mass., and the Diocesan Director of Deaf Ministry, and Andrew Rosenburg; five great-grandchildren Ryan, Abigail, Sophia and Ava Burchard and Helen LaVoie; and nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by a brother, John Henry Goyette; and a sister, Helen Harris.

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Lillian Godbout will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams, with her grandson, the Rev. Matthew Alcombright, as the celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot at Southview Cemetery.
