Gordon W. Brierley, 78

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Gordon William Brierley, 78, of Clarksburg died unexpectedly on Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Berkshire Medical Center North.

He was born in North Adams on June 7, 1939, a son of the late Harry and Gladys (Trottier) Brierley. Gordon attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1957. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1957 to 1960. He completed the linemans course at Southeastern Signal School at Fort Gordon, Ga. Gordon was later assigned to Co. B 447th Signal Battalion in Germany.

Over the course of his career, Gordon worked in automotive parts and supply industry. He was employed at the former Mulcare Auto Parts before moving to the service department of Scarafoni Ford and then retiring from Carbone Ford in Bennington, Vt. His family and his automobiles were Gordon's passion and they will always shine from his care and attention.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rosemarie (Sacco) Brierley, whom he married August 20, 1960, in St. Anthony of Padua Church in North Adams; two daughters, Dawn Brierley of North Adams and Jill Oguschewitz and her husband Joel of East Hampton, Conn.; one son, Shawn Brierley and his wife Mary of Severna Park, Md.; five grandchildren, Jamie Downey, Carly Oguschewitz and Julia, Evan and Neal Brierley; a great-granddaughter, Nora Downey; and two brothers, Donald and Gary Brierley.

He was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Brierley.

Funeral notice: Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. Burial with full military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home.

I just heard the sad news Gordy will be missed by everyone that knew him. I enjoyed working with him he always had a good story and could brighten everyone's day. I am truly going to miss him.

I'm grateful for having known and worked with such a great guy. Everyone was always laughing when Gordy was around. He really brightened a room with his sense of humor! Gordy was one a of a kind and will be greatly missed!!! May he rest in peace.
