RENSSELAERVILLE, N.Y. — Thomas Hoose Smith, 69, from Rensselaerville, N.Y., passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Berkshire Rehabilitation Center in Sandisfield, Mass.

He is survived by his daughter Chasity (John) McGivern of Knox, N.Y., son Che Smith of Berne, N.Y., and his former wife Cheryl Schmidt. He also leaves five grandchildren, John Todd McGivern from Knox, N.Y., and Thomas Che, Amanda, Patrick and Meaghan Smith from Herkimer, N.Y.; and his siblings, Laurie Lee Pearson and Jamie Smith.

He was predeceased by his brother, Roland Smith.

Funeral notice: Burial with Military Honors will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, N.Y. Donations in memory of Thomas may be made to the Patriot Riders in Altamont, N.Y., through Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230, who is caring for the arrangements.
