Doris M. Fortin, 93

ADAMS, Mass. — Doris M. Fortin, 93, of Adams passed away peacefully January 23, 2018, at the Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown.
Born in North Adams on June 19, 1924, daughter of the late Armand and Bella Blair Roy, she attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School. Doris was employed by the former Wall Streeter Shoe Co. in North Adams for many years. She later worked for the former Arnold Print Works in Adams and the former Waverly Fabrics in Adams until her retirement. She also was a volunteer for the Elder Services of the Berkshires for seventeen years.
Doris was happiest when she was doing something to help others, and lived an active life and loved walking every day, which she did until the age of 85. Her husband Albert Fortin died in 2012. She was a ommunicant of Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She loved music and had a voice of an angel.
Doris is survived by three daughters, Tina Kelly and her husband Terry of North Adams, Paula Fortin of North Adams, and Pam Fortin of Adams; a son, John Fortin of Adams; two grandchildren, Deane McCann and his wife Rachel of Pittsfield and Bryant Avery and his fiance Trisha Baker of Cheshire; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Belle Geoffrion.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Doris will take place Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 11 a.m. in Notre Dame Church in Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Steven G. Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will be in the Spring at a later date to be announced in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
