William H. Davis, 97

BENNINGTON, Vt. — William (Bill) H. Davis, 97 years old, passed away peacefully at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, on January 28, 2018. 

He was born on May 18, 1920, in Bennington and lived most of his life in areas surrounding and including Bennington. Bill served in the Army from Oct 1941 until Oct 1945 during WWII and helped with the construction of the Panama Canal. 

He was a logger all his life and loved to go fishing. 

He is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Mabel V. Davis, who died in March 2015; brothers John Davis and Leslie Davis; and sister Beatrice Sherman. 

He leaves eight step-children, David Robinson and wife Joyce, Norman Robinson and wife Estelle, Janice Wright and husband Gregory, William Robinson and wife Candace, Alton Robinson, Wanda Sweet, Pamela Hebert and husband Michael, and Alice Jonte and husband Christopher; sisters Rosemary Hilton and Jenny Davis; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral notice: There will be no funeral service for Bill at this time. The family will have a celebration of life at a later time. Contributions may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home when Bill resided for the last six years, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957 Bennington, VT 05201.
