Gerald H. Rickert, 85

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Gerry, beloved husband of Lois Lindley Rickert, of Williamstown, MA died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
Gerald Hale Rickert was born on July 17, 1932, in Brunswick, N.Y., a son of the late Robert L. and Dorothy (Munson) Rickert. In his younger years, he lived in Pittsfield before coming to Williamstown in the 1940s. He graduated from Williamstown High School in 1950. In 1952, he married Lois Lindley; they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 1, 2017. He had worked at the Coronation Farm in Williamstown and for Fairfield Farm. He worked at Sprague Electric and Cornish Wire before learning the electrical business from Louie DeMayo. Upon Mr. DeMayo's death, he started his own business in 1961, becoming the proprietor of Rickert Electric Incorporated.
Mr. Rickert was a member of the White Oaks Church in Williamstown. He was a member of the Taconic Golf Club for many years, and he was part of the original group that created Waubeeka Golf Course in the 1960s. He was also the president of the corporation for several years in the 1970s and 1980s. He served as president of the Williamstown Lions Club in 1975. He loved his golf, as well as the Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR. He was a self-taught stained glass enthusiast from the early 1970s. He made many lamp shades, windows and other things.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his three children, David and his wife, Lori, of North Adams, Wendy Rosher and her husband, Michael, of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Timothy and his wife, Tammy, of Williamstown; seven grandchildren, Daniel Rickert, Tracy Kelly, Julie Wheeler, Brian Rosher, Kyle Rosher, Tyler Rickert and Jill Rickert; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Douglas Rickert of Williamstown.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Rickert.
Funeral notice: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Gerald Rickert will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the White Oaks Congregational Church in Williamstown, Mass. Calling hours will take place on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
Burial will take place in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown in the spring. Donations in his memory can be made to either the White Oaks Congregational Church, or Village Ambulance.
