George E. Mulcahy, 90

ADAMS, Mass. — George Edward Mulcahy, 90, of Adams, Mass., died on February 28, 2018, at his home.
He was born in North Adams, Mass., a son to the late Charles M. and Florence (Perreault) Mulcahy. He attended St. Joseph grammar and high schools, graduating with the Class of 1944. He joined the Navy after graduation and became a radioman.
After he returned to North Adams he went on to study at St. Michael’s College, where he graduated with honors. After working numerous jobs he enrolled in Canias College, where he earned his master’s degree in English. Mr. Mulcahy took the position of Chairman of the Language Arts Department at Calcedonia College, where he taught until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. Mulcahy was very active in his community and was a member of the American Legion Post 125 as well as numerous other groups, where he gave of his time and commitment.
Survivors include his three sisters, Joyce Melillo of Adams, Mass., Virginia Cardingley of Hanson, Mass., and Jane Lancto of Bowling Green, Va.
He was predeceased by a sister, Anita Molleur; and four brothers, Richard, Peter, John and Charles Mulcahy.
Funeral notice: At his request, there will be no services for George Mulcahy. A burial will take place in the spring in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Memorial donations may be made for the Eskimo and Indian Missions in Alaska.
