PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Gilbert H. "Des" Desautels, 87, of Pittsfield passed away on March 26, 2018, at Mt. Carmel Care Center in Lenox.

He was the son of Dr. Antonio and Emma Bliel Desautels. He attended St. Joseph and Pittsfield High School. A graduate of Vaughn Barber School, Des was a barber for 35 years and the former owner of Elm Street Barber Shop.

He was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church. He and his wife, Juliette Zanetti Desautels, were married in St. Peters Church in Great Barrington, Mass. They were married for 67 years.

He leaves his daughter, Pamela Walak, and her husband David Walak of Dalton; his son, Richard P. Desautels, and his wife Pamela Solak Desautels; four grandchildren, Brian and Amanda Walak and Darren and Brittany Desautels; and four great-grandchildren, Gibert Walak, Ethan Milett and Hunter and Hadley Desautels.

Funeral notice: There will be no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to a charity of your choice.
