Daniel W. McDonald, 69

LEE, Mass. — Daniel William McDonald, 69, formerly of Lee, Mass., died Friday, August 17, 2018, at Williamstown Commons.

Born in Pittsfield on March 16, 1949, son of the late Francis E. and Agnes A. Massimiano McDonald, he was a 1967 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a graduate of East Coast Aero Technical School.

A Vietnam veteran and member of the United States Naval Reserve, Mr. McDonald was called to active duty on October 13, 1970. He served sixteen months overseas, and was honorably discharged on September 10, l972. 

Mr. McDonald had been employed by Coca-Cola for 15 years. He then went to work for Mead Paper Company from where he retired in November 2008 after 15 years of service there, as well.

He loved spending time with his daughter. He enjoyed playing guitar and softball.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his daughter, Chelsea D. McDonald of Lee; a sister, Christine A. (husband Richard) Bieniek of Lanesborough; two nieces, Jennifer (husband Timothy) Belanger of Pittsfield, Mass., and Kimberly (husband John) Gorman of Southwick, Mass; and a nephew, Damon (wife Melissa) Bieniek of Clifton Park, N.Y.

Funeral notice: Calling hours for Daniel William McDonald will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2018, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Cemetery with Rev. Matthew Guidi, Pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, officiating. Those attending are invited to meet inside the Cemetery gate at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.

Danny married my aunt he was so good to me growing up we would talk all the time he would stock the come at phs and any time he would see me he would let me get what ever soda I wanted we would talk ask me how I was doing and if i was staying out of trouble and ment it cook outs we would watch sports and have a beer and hang out and real young we would go swimming at ags and Macs off south st they were so nice Danny was a awsome uncle I loved him very much and he will be very missed and always rememberd rip keep watching the Sox for me love u uncle
