Irene I. Samson, 58

ADAMS, Mass. — Irene Isabell (Shurtleff) Samson, 58, of Adams, Mass., passed away Friday, August 24, 2018, at her home.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on September 26, 1959, daughter of George Clyde Shurtleff Sr. and Minola Isabell (Smith) Shurtleff. She attended Drury High School. Irene was the proprietor of Berkshire Commercial Cleaning Services.  

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Adams. She loved the ocean, especially in Maine, and also enjoyed motorcycling. Irene served as a foster parent and was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Douglas Samson, whom she married October 15, 1994; two daughters, Mindy Tatro and her husband, Peter, of Cheshire and Kayla Samson of Adams; one son, Timothy Michael Samson of North Adams; six grandchildren, Kaylee, Kadan, Jayden, Brooklynn, Logan and Timothy; three sisters, Susan DiGennaro of Crestview, Fla., Eva Jones of North Adams and Ann Bissaillon of Adams; two brothers, George C. Shurtleff Jr. of North Adams and Arthur Shurtleff of Pittsfield; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Irene Samson will be Thursday, August 30, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass. Burial will be at a later date. A calling hour will be Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
