Evelyn Lesniak, 93

LEE, Mass. — Evelyn Lesniak, 93, died Sunday afternoon, August 26, 2018, at the Landing at Laurel Lake. 

She was born in Pittsfield on January 11, 1925, the daughter of Mackool and Margaret Mitchell. She spent her younger years in Lee and graduation from Lee High School in 1942. She worked at the former Smith Paper Company in Lee until moving to Housatonic in 1952, where she was a communicant of the former Corpus Christi Church, and worked at the former Home Gas Company. She returned to Lee in 1998, where she was communicant of St. Mary’s Church. 

Mrs. Lesniak enjoyed walking, golf and going to Florida in the winter. She loved her grandchildren and they adored her.

Her husband, Edward S. Lesniak, whom she married May 7, 1949, at St. Mary’s Church in Lee, died on October 8, 2014.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Lesniak (Karen) of Pittsfield and Jim Lesniak (Molly) of Housatonic; two daughters, Christine Warywoski (Peter) of Lee and Jane Jones (David) of Kingston, Mass.; six grandchildren, Aaron (Amanda), Michael (Samantha), Abby (John Paul), Alex, Bryan and Evan; and seven great-grandchildren, Darren, Margot, Myles, Emmaline, Crosby, Parker and Kendall.

Evelyn was predeceased by her Eddie; her sister Midge; and her brother George. 

The family extends sincere thanks to The Landing At Laurel Lake Assisted Living and Memory Care Unit. The amazing staff gave Mom wonderful care and became her second family. In addition we’d like to thank Hospice for their consolation and care.

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Evelyn Lesniak will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. 

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. Friends wishing may make a donation in her memory to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or St. Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in c/o the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA 01238.
