Brian Drumm, 75

STEPHENTOWN, N.Y. — Brian Drumm, formerly of Lee and Lenoxdale, Mass., passed away on August 30 on his farm in Stephentown, N.Y.
Brian was born on August 2, 1943, the son of Gladys Mae Drumm. He graduated from Lee High School, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Lynn Carol Young. Brian and Lynn were married 55 years, and through thick and thin they loved each other to the end. Wherever one of them went, you would always find the other.
Brian loved spending time with his family and he was the proudest father, grandfather and great grandfather ever. He was happiest when the house was full of family and laughter. Everything could be a reason to celebrate, but he was most known for unfailingly getting up at 4 a.m. every 4th of July to secure the best seats for the Pittsfield parade.
For the past 20 years Brian spent his time farming, raising llamas, chickens and ducks. He loved riding his tractor, mowing the lawn with precision and fishing for bass in his pond. Prior to his retirement, Brian worked for 40 years as an operating engineer at Lane Construction Company where he never missed a day of work and had an impeccable safety record. He also worked 35 years as a machinist at Lenox Machine Company.
Working two jobs for many years while his family grew, Brian always had dinner with his family between shifts. He often spent weekends taking long drives with his family or putting all four kids in the back of his truck to go off on adventures. Brian taught all his children and grandchildren how to fish and to play Chinese checkers. He was an avid marble collector and to the grandkids growing up, getting one of Papa’s marbles was better than gold.
Brian could fix anything and owned more tools than a hardware store. He loved a good flea market, soft serve ice cream and almost always wore a plaid shirt. A soft-spoken guy with an infectious laugh, he would do anything for anyone. Brian was the epitome of a hard-working man who truly put his family first.
Brian is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lynn Drumm; their four children, Debra Drumm (MaryEllen McGorry) of Sudbury, Mass., Brenda Drumm (George Tower) of Venice, Fla., David Drumm (Colleen Flaherty) of Richmond, Vt., and Christopher Drumm (Wendy Drumm) of Lee, Mass.; his grandchildren Mackenzie, Meghan, Joshua, Brian, Christian, Jonas, Katherine, Gabi, Allison, Henry; two great-grandchildren, Maizie and Chloe; and his cat, Jasmine.
He was predeceased by his Cairn Terrier, Skippy, whom he loved dearly.
Funeral notice: Calling hours will be at Kelly Funeral Home in Lee on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. A Memorial service will follow at noon at the Lee Congregational Church directly across the street from the funeral home.
