Phyllis E. Carto, 92

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Phyllis Elizabeth Porter Gull Carto, 92, formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., passed away on December 10, 2017, in Boise, Idaho.

Phyllis was born in Great Barrington, Mass., on May 15, 1925. She was raised in Pittsfield and attended school there. She then worked at Eaton Paper for many years until moving to Arizona. Before leaving Pittsfield, she married her first husband, Dominic Gull in 1966; he passed away in 1977. While visiting California in 1987, she met her second husband, Robert Carto, and they were married in Arizona in 1988. Robert also predeceased her.

Phyllis lived in Arizona up until the last nine months of her life, when, because of failing health, she moved to Boise to be near her niece.

Phyllis is survived by her nieces, Joyce Schram, Jean Snow and Elaine Miller; her nephews Ted and Bruce Snow; her great-niece Kim Melinsky; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Aside from her husbands, she was predeceased by her sister Gertrude Snow; both brothers Arthur and Kenneth Porter; her nephew Richard Snow; a great-niece, Elizabeth Schram; and a great-great nephew Garrett Schram.

Funeral notice: A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, 90 Stockbridge Road, Great Barrington, Mass. The omission of flowers is requested.  Memorial donations may be made to an association that supports the physically and/or mentally handicapped.
