Gloria A. Clermont, 96

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Gloria Amanda (Decoteau) Clermont, 96, of North Adams, Mass., died Thursday October 18, 2018, at Sweetbrook Care Center.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on March 15, 1922, daughter of Philip and Amanda (Mousseau) Decoteau. She attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1940.

Gloria was first employed by Sprague Electric Co. and then as an independent real estate agent.  She owned the former "Fashion Fabrics" on Main Street in North Adams in partnership with Margaret LeClair. Gloria was last employed as a clerk at the former Roberts Co. and then England Brothers in North Adams until her retirement.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and was a former member and officer of Le Cercle Francais. Gloria was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed antique cars and sewing.

She was the widow of George Joseph Clermont, who died on July 21, 2001. They were married on May 3, 1947.

Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne M. Mendel and her husband, Allen, of Adams; one son, William A. Clermont and his wife, Margaret, of Franklin, Mass.; two grandsons, Joshua Mendel of North Adams and Peter Mendel of Taunton, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Emmitt Mendel and Anica Mendel; one sister, Eva Maruco of North Adams; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers, including Rita Rosch, Anita Price, Cecile Descoteaux, Alcide Descoteau and Philippe Descoteau.  

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Gloria Clermont will be celebrated Monday, October 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.  

A calling hour will be held Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to POPCares or the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
