Edward V. Hanna, 74

FLORIDA, Mass. - Edward Victor Hanna, 74, of Florida, Mass., died Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Berkshire Medical Center, North Adams.

He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on April 19, 1945, son of Alexander John and Helene Harriet (Tetlow) Hanna. He attended Pittsfield schools.

He worked at General Electric Co. for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Williamstown Baptist Church. Ed enjoyed hunting and especially fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Esther (Gregory) Hanna, whom he married July 20, 1984; three daughters, Kimberly Raney of Williamstown, Carol Hanna of Lanesboro and DeEtt Hanna of Pittsfield; five sons, John Sumner of Bennington, Vt., Robert Sumner of Hinsdale, James Sumner of Florida, Mass., Scott Sumner of North Adams and Ronald Hanna of Dalton; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Selma Gilardi of Pittsfield; two brothers, William Hanna and George Hanna both of Pittsfield; and nieces and nephews.

His brother, John Hanna, is deceased.

Funeral notice: A memorial service for Edward Hanna will be celebrated Thursday, October 17, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Williamstown Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Florida Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247.
