Judith Walker, 92

Mrs. Judith Sharkey (Sarchi) Walker, widow of Clarence A. Walker of Terryville, Conn., passed away on February 10, 2020, at home surrounded by her children.

Judith was born Judith Mary Sarchi on July 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Cantone) Sarchi "Sharkey" of North Adams, Mass. Judith and Clarence were married on July 3, 1948, and resided in their home on East Quincy Street in North Adams until the early part of the 1970s, when they moved to Conn as part of the closure of Sprague Electric Company.

During her life, Judith worked in North Adams at Sprague Electric Co, J.C. Penny, Berkshire Bank and Trust as well as Drury High School as a cafeteria cashier. She also served as a Brown and Girl Scout leader, member of the Houghton School PTA, and a member of the Hairpin Turner Square Dance Club. While residing in Terryville, Conn., she worked as a teacher’s aide for local elementary schools and as a teller with Thomaston Savings until her retirement in the late 1980’s. She was a parishioner of St. Caisimir Church in Terryville, Conn.

Mom lived for fun, and for family. Many days would be spent building ice skating rinks in the backyard, building snow sculptures with every generation as they came, and never letting us down for making each birthday party special. Most of our friends came to Walker’s house, that’s where the fun was and everyone thought of her as a second mom.

Judith is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Walker and her companion William Cribari of North Adams, Christine (Walker) Sniadach and her husband Gary of Vernon, Conn., and Debra (Walker) Ursini and her husband Robert of Pikeville, Tenn.; her son Daniel Walker and his wife Pam (Stanowski) of Terryville, Vt.; a sister, Sylvia (Sarchi) Keehnle, of Pittsfield, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Dave Dunn, Laurie (Dunn) Booth, Anthony Sniadach, Kayla (Sniadach) Theriault, Nick and Allison Walker, and Samantha and Amanda Ursini; 10 great-grandchildren, Michell Dunn, Morgan Valois, Kennedy (Valois) Raimer, Katie Booth, Tayna and Amber Sniadach, Luke Theriault, and Sophia and Jonathon Mitchell. She was looking forward to the new arrivals of two more great-grandchildren due in March 2020. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, too numerous to name, but each one was her favorite on both sides of our family.

Her loves for her family was unconditional and she will be missed by all who were embraced by her love. Judith is predeceased by her brothers, Carl J. Sarchi and Edmund J. Sarchi; and her sisters Marion Senecal and Beatrice "Aunt Bea" Conroy.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Judith will take place Friday, February 21, 2020, at noon at St Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Calling hours are from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at Flynn & Dagoli Central Chapel 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247. Burial will be held at Southview Cemetery.
