Louise E. Meaney

Louise Elizabeth Meaney, 88, of 2310 North Lumina Ave., Wrightsville Beach, N.C., formerly of 100 Furnace St., died yesterday at home. Born in North Adams on Nov. 26, 1913, daughter of Robert P. and Elizabeth Carlow Dach, she graduated from Drury High School in 1931, and moved to Wrightsville Beach in 1994. Mrs. Meaney was employed by the former Arnold Print Works and by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles from 1962 until 1966. She most recently was employed as the senior interviewer at the Massachusetts Division of Employment Security office, retiring in 1982. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (Court Margaret No. 629), the Berkshire Chorale and the Northern Berkshire Professional Women's Association. Her husband, Thomas J. Meaney, whom she married July 23, 1938, died Sept. 23, 1979. She leaves a son, Robert G. Meaney of Lenox; two daughters, Susan L. Dickey of Wrightsville Beach, with whom she made her home, and Elizabeth Ann Trudeau of Niceville, Fla.; twin sisters, Mildred I. Cellana of North Adams and Eleanor Jobert of Clemmons, N.C.; five grandchildren, and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to Hospice of Lower Cape Fear or to a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
