Robert J. Potvin, 89

STAMFORD, Vt. —  Robert Joseph Potvin, 89 of Stamford, VT died on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at his home.

He was born in Chicopee, MA on July 26, 1932, a son of Ernest Joseph and Rosalie (Landry) Potvin. He came to North Adams at an early age and attended the former Notre Dame Parochial School. He graduated from Drury High School.

Robert served in the Mass. National Guard. He was first employed as a tool & die maker at General Electric Co and Sprague Electric Co for a few years. Robert then founded and operated the Potvin Lumber Co. saw mill in Stamford for many years until his retirement.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Bob loved God and enjoyed spending time with family, gardening and reading.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Estelle (Robert) Potvin whom he married on August 7, 1954; four daughters- Denise (James) Rondeau; Diane (Nathan) Finney; and Linda (David) Orton, all of Stamford, VT and Julie (John) Forbes of Wentzville, MO; and three sons- Laurence R. Potvin; Mark E. Potvin and Daniel J. (Jane) Potvin, all of Stamford, VT. He also leaves 23 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Two brothers are deceased including Ernest Potvin and Philip Potvin.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Robert Potvin will be celebrated Saturday October 9, 2021 at 11:30 AM at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams. Burial will be Stamford, VT. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA are Friday from 4-7 PM. We all knew this day was coming and while sad I can't help to feel he beat the heck out of death.He must have decided ok I will go.Bob was a great man and he and Kathie created a great family.I'm sure that my brother Steve will be there to greet him because just like Bob he loved that sawmill and the Potvin family.My prayers for you all.Thank you Bob for all the great memories and the giving so many of us the means to support our families and so much more 🙏Rest in peace.
