Peter E. Germanowski, 70

PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  Peter E. Germanowski, 70, of Pittsfield, died Wednesday evening, January 12, 2022, at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in North Adams on March 13, 1951, a son of the late Edmund and Mildred (Galipeau) Germanowski. He attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School in 1969. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the former North Adams State College.

Pete worked as an engineer in the Naval Ordnance division of General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for many years. He later worked briefly for Commonwealth Sprague in North Adams and United Systems Technologies in New York. He enjoyed caring for tropical fish, Indy Car and NASCAR racing, raising plants, fishing, and nature in general.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lynn A. Connell, whom he married on June 30, 2001; two daughters, Candace Germanowski of Pittsfield, and Laura Robair and her husband, Curt, of Adams; two grandchildren, Corey and Kyle Rozak; a brother, David Germanowski and his wife, Lisa, of Northampton; a sister, Kathryn Halstead and her husband, Randall, of Arlington, MA, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be private. So sad to hear about Pete’s passing. A long time customer and a great man. Had many great conversations and was a very generous and polite man.

Thoughts and prayers for all the family for the loss of Pete. Met Pete 35 years ago at GE and developed a friendship around Indy & Nascar racing. So many memories especially on the annual Indy 500 trips with the racing gang. Will miss the interesting conversation on so many topics and his upbeat personality. Life will not be the same.
