Paula Godfrey,61

Paula (Bohl) Godfrey 61, of Pittsfield, MA. left her physical body on Wednesday February 2, 2022 to begin the next phase of her spiritual journey. Paula was welcomed to this world on December 10, 1960, a daughter of the previously parted Edwin and Mary (McCann) Bohl.

Paula was raised and attended schools in Williamstown graduating from Mt. Greylock with the class of 1979. Paula worked as a caregiver but discovered her life’s greatest and most fulfilling role while serving as a nanny for the Kildahl family in Williamstown throughout the 2000s. She was a doting wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and nanny. She cherished her clan often ensuring that she was the last one to exclaim, “I love you more”, at good-byes. Paula savored laying in the sun, especially at a beach – usually Hampton Beach, NH. She also fancied shopping, but only splurged on others as she enjoyed expressing love through her thoughtful gifts as well. Paula left an indelible mark on many. She will be fondly remembered as a quiet, selfless, kind, and compassionate woman who would help anyone.

late 2020, Paula’s health began its final descent, and she began living with ever increasing pain and declining energy. Knowing the stress and worry this would cause her loved ones, Paula avoided conversations regarding her health and worked hard to hide the extent of her pain. Looking back at the final week of Paula’s life, it is clear that she knew her time on earth was closing. May every loved one rest easier and without regret knowing that Paula was ready and passed serenely, was at peace and without fear, and was confidently full of love. She is now free of pain and is with us at all times.

Paula is survived by her beloved “boys” comprised of; husband James "Sonny" Godfrey Jr., son Andrew Briggs Jr., and grandchildren Alexander and Jasper Briggs. She also leaves her sister Kathleen Fay and her husband John, brother Thomas Bohl and his wife Tammi, brother Michael Bohl and his wife Desiree, many cherished nieces and nephews, and her stepchildren James Godfrey and Amber Caproni. Additionally, Paula also leaves behind her adored Liz Kildahl & Family as well as her ex-husband, but longtime friend Andrew Briggs Sr.

A celebration of Paula Godfrey’s life will take place later this summer - her favorite season. Memorial donations may be made for the Berkshire Humane Society through the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. 01247. Recollections & Sympathy For the Family

Jim and family, I am so sorry for your loss, but happy that her suffering is at an end. She will get to share Easter with her loved ones on the other side this year. She has now passed into what will surely be an active role, as your guardian angel. Find peace in the love of your family and the memories you made together. She will never be very far from those that she loved.

To Paula's family, and especially Andrew and the kids, my heart breaks reading this. Your Mom and I were best friends in elementary school and our Moms were very good friends. I know that Paula will no longer suffer and will rest in peace. Hold onto all of the wonderful memories made with Paula. God bless you all.
