Helen Cleary

Helen Cleary, 81, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Cornelia Webster of Southfield. She was the mother of Eugene Cleary of New Marlboro. Born in Bronx, N.Y., on June 16, 1920, daughter of Cornelius and Katherine Calamari Bertschinger, she attended schools there and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1938. She attended the Traphagen Art School in Manhattan, N.Y. Mrs. Cleary designed cards for the former Norcross Card Co. and demonstrated sewing machines in Singer's store window in Manhattan. She enjoyed interior decorating, especially around her home. Besides her son and daughter, she leaves her husband, Edward Cleary, whom she married Nov. 30, 1946, in Brooklyn; another son, Edward Cleary Jr. of Queens, N.Y., and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Eugene Cleary Jr., who died in 1986. Funeral services will be held in Brooklyn, N.Y. Contributions in Mrs. Cleary's memory may be made to the Susan G.
