Dario J. DiVirgilio

Dario J. DiVirgilio, 85, formerly of Miami Beach, a native of Florida, died Jan. 18 at Gulf Crest Nursing Home in Hollywood, Fla., where he was admitted Aug. 30, 2000. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 19, 1916, son of Antonio and Laurenzia Sciarra DiVirgilio, he attended local schools. He moved to Florida in 1946. He was a World War II Army veteran and served with the 1878th Unit in Camp Claiborne, La. Mr. DiVirgilio was a horse trainer in Florida for many years. He leaves a brother, Paul P. DiVirgilio of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lynn Lee, a brother, David DiVirgilio, and a sister, Rose Vallone. A graveside service will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS pastor of Mount Carmel Church, officiating. There are no calling hours. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., is in charge of local arrangements.
