James A. Carr

James A. Carr, 77, of Sandisfield died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Portland, Maine, on July 10, 1924, son of Norman and Mildred Parrot Carr, he attended Bethel (Vt.) High School and moved to Sandisfield in 1962. A World War II Navy veteran, he served on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger in both the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans. Mr. Carr was the owner and operator of Carr Metal Pro, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He leaves his wife, the former Eloise Currier, whom he married in June 1950; five sons, Michael Carr and Sean Carr, both of Sandisfield, Norman Carr of Grand Forks, N.D., Patrick Carr of Pittsfield and Brian Carr of Columbus, Ohio; six daughters, Jamie Carr, Mary Cohutt and Kathleen Dyer, all of Otis, Peggy Fields of Sandisfield, Theresa Carr of Park City, Utah, and Shannon Bates of East Longmeadow; a sister, Lorraine Hagerman t-grandchild. Another son, James M. Carr, died May 22, 2001. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Burial will follow in Sandisfield Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 1 until the time of the funeral. Friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires through the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
