Daniel L. LaFleur, Sr., 94

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mr. Daniel L. LaFleur, Sr., 94, of Adams, died on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Williamstown Commons.

He was born in Adams on October 11, 1928, a son of the late Arthur and Marie (White) LaFleur. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School.

Mr. LaFLeur was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Air Force until receiving his honorable discharge as sergeant in 1949.

A carpenter by trade, he served his apprenticeship under his father and two older brothers. He belonged to the Carpenters Union working for various contractors in the area and was last employed by the Adams Housing Authority in the maintenance department where he retired in 1989. He was a member of Berkshire Lodge of Masons and was Master of the Lodge in 1964 and belonged to the American Legion Post 160 in Adams.

His wife, the former Shirley A. Shaw, whom he married on December 15, 1951, died on August 15, 2014.

He is survived by his son Daniel L. LaFleur, Jr. and his wife Joni of Winchester, TN; his daughter, Haley A. Meczywor and her husband Frederick of Adams; his daughter-in-law, Lorene LaFleur of Millersville, MD; five grandchildren, Jay Meczywor and his companion Jessica Salvini, Stephanie Brumley, Thomas Meczywor, Richard LaFleur, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, Justin LaFleur and his wife Diana; four great grandchildren, Haven and Jaeden Brumley, Jackson and Richard III (Tripp) LaFleur, his sister-in-law, Marlene Gazaille, his adopted family Rob and Sue Pilon of Canada, and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter Allyn F. Basel (Peter), by his son, Richard S. LaFleur, Sr. and by three brothers, Norman (Alexcina), Alan (Janet) and Archie LaFleur.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 10:00 A.M. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.
