Geno Cadenelli

Geno Cadenelli, 83, of 35 Mountain View Terrace died yesterday at the Village at Laurel Lake. Born in Lee on Feb. 6, 1919, son of Amedo and Angelina Guerra Cadenelli, he attended Lee schools. He joined the Army on July 11, 1940, and was stationed at Pearl Harbor at the time of the Japanese attack. He was discharged on July 13, 1945, with the rank of staff sergeant. After his military service, Mr. Cadenelli was employed by B&P and Old Colony Trucking until retiring in the late 1970s. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and, during the 1960s, was assistant scoutmaster for Troop 45 in Lee. He enjoyed the outdoors. His wife, the former Amelia A. Digits, whom he married Sept. 2, 1946, died May 4, 1997. He leaves three sons, Stephen G. Cadenelli of Chatham, Bruce E. Cadenelli of Ocean City, N.J., and Eric J. Cadenelli of Barnegat, N.J.; a brother, Bruno R. Cadenelli of Pittsfield; three sisters, Mary E. Zanella, Olga E. Petersoli and Alma J. Coty, all of Lee; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at Kelly Funeral Home will be Friday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Lee Regional Visiting Nurse Association in care of the funeral home.
