George G. 'Jerry' Lord Jr., 64

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — George Gerald "Jerry" Lord Jr., 64 of North Adams died on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Adams on April 9, 1958, a son of the late George Gerald Lord Sr. and Patricia Mae Soldati Lord. He attended Adams schools and graduated from McCann Technical High School.

Jerry was a veteran of the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He later served in the Massachusetts National Guard.

A longtime welder/fabricator, Jerry last worked at Lenco Industries before his 2022 retirement. Before that, Jerry was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. and Husky.

Jerry enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, camping, 4-wheeling and golfing. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Celtics.

Survivors include his companion of 40 years, Freda Helga Nielsen, and her son, Tony Christopher Nielsen. He also leaves two sisters, Mary (Mark) Champney of the town of Florida, and Patti-Jo (Todd) St. Jacques of Monroe, and two brothers, Mark Lord of North Adams and Scott (Buffy) Lord of Pittsfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry had the good fortune of having several close friends he considered family during his lifetime. The list is too long to include.
