Jean D. Delisle

Jean D. Delisle, 68, of 164 Cross Road died yesterday at home after a long illness. Born in Torrington, Conn., on Jan. 1, 1934, daughter of George and Florence O'Dell McKinney, she moved to North Adams as a child and attended schools there. A homemaker, she was a longtime communicant of St. Francis' Church in North Adams. She was an accomplished artist and had several of her paintings displayed, including one of singer Johnny Cash at the Mohawk Theater, which he signed when he performed there in 1988, and one of Robert Kennedy at North Adams City Hall. A country music fan, she enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, and wrote several songs. She leaves her husband, Jerry Delisle, whom she married Oct. 18, 1958; two sons, John Love of Turners Falls and Steve G. Delisle of North Adams; three daughters, Katherine J. Love Turner of North Adams, Audrey Delisle Arnold of Readsboro, Vt., and Julie Delisle Joyner of Stephentown, N.Y.; a sister, Margaret "Dolly" Mohl of Stamford, Vt.; a brother, Lawrence McKinney of Wilmington, Ohio, and 12 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister and a brother, Lorraine Drummond and Allen George McKinney. The funeral will be Monday at 10:15 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 8. Memorial donations are suggested to the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire, the North Adams Adult Day Care Health Center or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society through the funeral home.
