Barbara Gaylord

Barbara A. Gaylord, 59, of 83 Richardson St. died Sunday at home. Born in Adams on June 16, 1942, daughter of Joseph and Ruth Leary Brunell, she was a 1960 graduate of Adams High School. She also attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Gaylord was employed as a direct mail typist for Berkshire Life Insurance Co. in her office at home until 1998. For the past 1-1/2 years, she worked as a secretary at Cheshire Elementary School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active with the 4-H Club since child-hood. She became a 4-H leader while her children were involved with the organization. She en-joyed photographing her child-ren and grandchildren, and watching hummingbirds at her feeder. She leaves her husband, Roger N. Gaylord, whom she married March 4, 1967; two sons, Kenneth Gaylord and Rusty Gaylord, both of Cheshire; three daughters, Donna Martin of Cheshire, and Linda Shepard and Anne Lescarbeau, both of North Adams; a brother, Russell Brunell of Fairfax, Va.; a sister, Nancy Barrett of Newton, N.C.; six grand-children, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Alan Brunell and Joseph Brunell. The funeral will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cheshire, with the Rev. Linda Shaw, pastor, and the Rev. William Furey officiating. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cheshire. Among survivors are several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to either HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department, in care of the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
