Mary Lou Levanos, 66

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Mary Lou (Ellis) Levanos, 66 of Clarksburg died Friday, March 29, 2024, from complications with her struggles from COPD. She passed in the loving arms of her husband and son.

Mary Lou was born in North Adams on Oct. 23, 1957, the daughter of the late Thomas R. & Mary (Joseph) Ellis. She graduated from the former St. Joseph High School and was employed by the North Adams Housing Authority and later as the manager of Brickyard Terrace.

On June 23, 1983, she married the love of her life, Jeffrey Levanos, and together they shared 41 years of marriage. After the birth of her son, she devoted her life to being a mom and taking jobs as a teachers' aide to be able to be home when her son Joe came home from school. Later, when Joe was older, she returned to housing and was finishing up her career as property manager of St. Joseph's Court, where she would have retired on the day of her passing.

Above all, Mary Lou was a devoted wife and mother, always caring for her husband and son. Lou, as she was affectionately known to her friends and family, enjoyed reading and going to the casino, but mostly being the baker for Jack's Hot Dog Stand, where everyone enjoyed her delicious whoopie pies and smiley cookies.

Lou leaves her husband, Jeffrey Levanos of Clarksburg, and her son, Joseph John Levanos of North Adams, as well as her brothers Thomas (Elizabeth) Ellis of Pittsfield and Edward Ellis and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her older brother Richard.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Mary Lou Levanos will be on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Homes, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Mary Lou was an instrumental part of our community who always went above and beyond to ensure the care and needs of our residents were met. Not only did she do this for St. Joseph Court, but the North Adams community as a whole. Anyone in contact with Mary Lou was immediately impacted in many positive ways. Her dedication to St. Joseph Court was personal for her and she took extreme pride in ensuring her residents were happy and safe in calling St. Joseph Court their home. Mary Lou will be greatly missed by us all. Our deepest sympathy to her loving family and friends.

Jeff and family, Marylou was such a blessing for May Anderson, a resident at St.Josephs Ct., and all the residents there for that matter. (May has since passed away.) But Marylou went over and above her secretarial job duties to help the family with Mays medical interventions in watching out for her. She had such a big heart for everyone. She was special and I will never forget her and our little talks. I’m so sorry to read that she has passed. My prayers go out to you in hopes you can find comfort in memories shared with you all. Lou and I were best friends for many years growing up and even though we didn’t see each other often we never lost touch or lost our love for each other.
