Vivian E. Wallach

Vivian Esner Wallach, 89, of New York City, mother of Laurence Wallach of Great Barrington, died Friday at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, Conn. Born in New York City on July 9, 1912, daughter of Abraham and Sara Schect Esner, she attended schools in Brooklyn, N.Y., and earned her bachelor of arts degree from Brooklyn College in 1933. Mrs. Wallach was employed as a legal secretary with the firm of Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. She was a lifelong student of French language and literature and enjoyed music and the fine arts. Her husband, Israel Wallach, whom she married in 1940, died in 1971. Besides her son, she leaves another son, Alan Wallach of Washington D.C., and two granddaughters.
