Martha Patton

Martha Frances Adele Patton, 67, of Sudbury, formerly of Cheshire, died Feb. 20 at Wayside Hospice in Wayland. Born in Pittsfield on July 6, 1934, daughter of Kenneth D. and Hope H. Negus, she resided in Cheshire in her early years and graduated from the former Adams High School. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Simmons College in 1957. Mrs. Patton was an accounting/business manager in medical, commercial and service organizations. She retired from Advocates for Human Potential in Sudbury. She was a Big Sister, read for the blind, tutored students trying to obtain a General Educational Development diploma and those for whom English is a second language, and served as a clerk for First Baptist Church of Sudbury. She also counseled nationwide on alternative cancer treatments. She leaves a son, Jeffrey J. Seeger of Pepperell; a brother, Richard H. Negus of Dunwoody, Ga., and a granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at First Baptist Church of Sudbury. Interment will be in Cheshire in the spring. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Wayside Hospice, 266 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778, or the Massachusetts Audubon Society, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773.
