Winifred Tassone

Winifred J. Tassone, 82, of Millhouse Apartments, 75 Commercial St., died Wednesday evening at Williamstown Commons. Born in Adams on April 3, 1919, daughter of William and Ora McConnell Edwards, she attended schools there. Mrs. Tassone worked for the Adams Council on Aging for several years. Prior to that, she was a department manager at the former Mammoth Mart in North Adams. She attended Morningside Baptist Church in Pittsfield for several years, and enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. Her husband, Angelo Nicholas Tassone, whom she married on May 25, 1940, died Nov. 1, 1984. She leaves a daughter, Joanne Trimarchi of North Adams; four sons, Wayne Tassone, Dennis Tassone and Shaun Tassone, all of Adams, and Brian Tassone of Agawam; a brother, William Edwards of Adams; 22 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. A grandson, Todd C. Pierce, died Nov. 19, 1979. A brother, Conrad Edwards, is also deceased. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. The Rev. Linda Shaw, pastor of Morningside and Cheshire Baptist churches, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family lot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Williamstown Commons Patient Activities Fund through the funeral home.
