Isabelle A. Richardson, 97

ADAMS, Mass. —  Mrs. Isabelle A. “Bella” (Skrocki) Richardson, 97, of Adams, died Saturday morning, May 3, 2025 at North Adams Commons. She was born in Adams on February 3, 1928, a daughter of the late Teofil and Julia (Doliva) Skrocki. She attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and the former Hoosac St. School and graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1945.

Bella worked for the former Waverly Fabrics division of F. Schumacher & Co. in Adams for 34 years, first in customer service, and later as a secretary in the Quality Control department, until retiring in 1990 when the company closed in Adams. She and her late husband, Charles E. Richardson, Jr., whom she married on August 17, 1946, owned and lived in the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace home on East Road in Adams for 33 years, until Mrs. Richardson sold it in 1984. Mr. Richardson died on July 10, 1976.

She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. She was a member and past president of the Polish Women’s Club, and was a member of the former Adams Girl’s Club and F. Schumacher 25 Year Club. She was a member of the Susan B. Anthony Museum Restoration Committee and served as a poll worker for the Town of Adams for many years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and dancing, especially to Polka music.

She is survived by three sons, Norman Richardson and his wife Susan of Aurora, IL, James Richardson and his wife Donna of Rexford, NY and David Richardson and his wife Lynn of Adams; 8 grandchildren, including Anne, Christopher, Kara, Aaron, Kyle, Kevin, Kory and Thomas; 16 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Frank, Raymond, Joseph and Fred Skrocki, and by her sister, Janet Sikora.

The Richardson family would like to thank the staff of North Adams Commons for the care and kindness they provided during Bella’s stay there.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 7th at 11:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. A calling hour will be held in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, directly before the Mass.

After the SBAB was purchased I met Bella. She was such a lovely woman. Every time I came from Rochester to work at the Birthplace I would visit her..my friend Kathy and I enjoyed her so much. She is now a special advocate from Heaven.

The Richardson Family,
So sorry to read of "Mom's" passing. "Bella" was a wonderful Lady. She was always pleasant and had a positive attitude toward any individual she encountered. I had many conversations with her.
