Ellen Leitch, 99

Ellen D. Leitch 99, of 109 North Summer Street, Adams, died on June 28, 2025, at North Adams Commons. Born in Adams on February 18, 2026, daughter of John and Martha Kleiner Schwab, she attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1944.

Before and after graduation, she worked at Reeves and Stojda Insurance Agency on Park Street for several years. Pursuing accounting, she worked part-time at Del Millette’s and Mel Noel’s Service Stations as bookkeeper, and then full-time as accountant and payroll clerk at McCann School. She was promoted to Secretary to the Superintendent and Treasurer of the school district, remaining there for fifteen years, retiring in 1982. In 1946, she met and married Robert T. Leitch when he completed service in the Air Force. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, playing cards, and reading.

She leaves two sons, Robert R. Leitch, MD and his wife Patritia Leitch of Amherst, and James J. Leitch and his wife Mary Leitch of Adams, also three grand-daughters Sushene, Willow, and Katherine, and their husbands. She also leaves two great granddaughters, Madelanne and River, and three great grandsons Garrett, Wesley, and Colton, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, three sisters, Bertha Jones, Emma Schneider, and Louise Owczarski, and two brothers John and George Schwab. She was a communicant of St. Paul II Church in Adams.

A calling hour will take place on Wednesday July 9, 2925 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521West Main St. North Adams, MA. followed by funeral service at 11:00 A.M.
