Clifford F. Brochu

Clifford Francis Brochu, 97, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., formerly of Reed Street, died Saturday at Lehigh (Fla.) Medical Center. Born in Monterey on Sept. 23, 1904, son of Clifford and Lillian Mansir Brochu, he attended Great Barrington schools and Monson Academy in Monson. Mr. Brochu was employed by Rising Paper Co. as a carpenter for 43 years. He retired in 1969 and moved to Lehigh Acres. He was a member of First Community Congregational Church in Lehigh and the Lehigh Acres Hobby Club. He also was a member and past master of the Great Barrington Grange, and enjoyed woodworking with fine veneers, gardening and traveling. His wife, the former Pearl M. Hanes, whom he married May 1, 1924, died Jan. 18, 1989. He leaves a daughter, Eleanor Hall of Stockbridge; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lillian Tie, and a son, Frank Brochu.
