Carl A. Donega, 90

ADAMS, Mass. —
Mr. Carl Anthony Donega, 90, of Adams, died Saturday evening, March 7, 2026 at Berkshire Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in North Adams on November 4, 1935, son of the late John B. and Teresa I. (Modena) Donega. He attended North Adams schools, graduating from Drury High School with the Class of 1954.
Carl was a talented automotive technician all his life, first working for Cahoon Service Station, then Yankee Pontiac, and lastly for the former Shapiro Chevrolet and their successors, Donohue Chevrolet and Gateway Chevrolet, until his retirement.
He was a communicant of St. John Paul II Parish in Adams and served as a lector at the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams for several years. He was a member of the Northern Berkshire Retiree’s Club and had served for several years with the Massachusetts Army National Guard at the North Adams Armory. He was an avid bowler with several leagues at the former Mt. Greylock Bowl in North Adams. He also enjoyed kayaking, skiing, and was a loyal fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Marcia A. (Lewis) Donega, whom he married on August 3, 1963, his two daughters, Karen Nunez of Vernon Hills, IL and Stephanie Kawa and her husband, Jeffrey, of East Greenwich, RI; his 3 grandchildren Luis Nunez, Tamara Nunez and Evan Kawa; his godchildren David Little and Sherri Centra, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John P. Donega, his sister, Helen M. Donega, and his father- and mother-in-law, Stafford and Ivis Lewis.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at 9:30 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 10th from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home.
