Yuri Breykin, 98

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —

Mr. Yuri Breykin, 98, of North Adams, died Saturday morning, April 18, 2026 at North Adams Commons.

He was born in Russia on March 7, 1928, a son of Yuri and Anna (Barmena) Breykin, and attended schools in Russia, earning a bachelor’s degree in music from the Cultural College of Music.

Following his college studies, Mr. Breykin attended the Army Officer Training Academy, and spent his entire career in the Russian Army, first as a junior officer overseeing MIG operations and repair, and later as the Commander of the Soviet Army Bands, which participated in military and government parades and ceremonies, until retiring with the rank of Major. He emigrated to the United States in 2008.

His wife, the former Nataliya Paramonova, died on January 18, 2021.

He is survived by one daughter, Svetlana Dargie and her husband, Francis, of North Adams; two sons, Peter Breykin of Pittsfield and Sergei Breykin and his wife Nataliya of Krasnodar, Russia; four grandchildren, Alexandra Dargie of North Adams, Maya Breykin of Miami, FL, and Jula Breykin and Anton Breykin of Russia; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 24th at 11:00 AM in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, directly before the service, in the funeral home.
