Antonio Pino

Antonio "Tony" Pino, 103, formerly of Baldwin Hill, South Egremont, died Tuesday at Fairview Commons Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since 1999. Born in Jaruco, Cuba, on Aug. 27, 1898, son of Jose Leon and Bernarda Ramirez Rubio Pino, he attended schools there. He emigrated to the United States in 1923. He was employed at the Monument Mills in Housatonic, making bedspreads for many years. He then worked at Sheffield Plastics for 15 years, retiring in 1975. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and spending time with his family. A fan of the Boston Red Sox, he began following the team in 1923. He leaves his wife of 72 years, the former Louise Meach, whom he married Sept. 17, 1929; a son, Robert Pino of Great Barrington; four granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services for the late Antonio Pino will be Friday, March 15, at 1 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington with the Rev. Arthur Kaufman, pastor of Old Parish Church in Sheffield, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 15, from noon until the time of the service at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Tony may be made to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad through the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
