Anthony F. Accetta (Tony) 75, born February 9,1951 in North Adams, MA, passed away on July 5, 2026, at his home in North Adams. Tony grew up in North Adams and attended North Adams schools. He was the son of the late Anthony F. Accetta of North Adams, and the late Ruth Vivian Gillooly of Blairsville, GA.

After graduating from McCann Technical School in North Adams, Tony attended Vermont Technical College in Burlington, VT., majoring in electronics. Enlisting in the US Air Force in 1971, Tony received his basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. Upon completion, he was assigned to a technical school for journalism. His first base assignment was to Myrtle Beach AFB in SC where he worked for the base newspaper. In 1972, with the Vietnam War still raging, Tony was assigned to Ubon Royal Thai Air Base in Thailand, home of the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing. There he sought out, photographed, and wrote local and Air Force articles for the base newspaper. It was there that he honed his skill in photography, capturing wonderful images of the people of Thailand. Upon completion of his year in Southeast Asia, he was assigned to Tinker AFB in OK.

Completing his active-duty commitment, Tony received an honorable discharge from the Air Force. Tony returned to North Adams and worked with his father at Tony's Restaurant on State Street. He also free lanced, writing articles for various journals. Returning to Myrtle Beach, SC., Tony worked for a SC electronics company, took pictures, wrote articles, and enjoyed the beach.

Tony leaves his sister Christine A. Carruthers of Charlotte, NC, his brother Patrick W. Accetta (Linda) of Somersworth, NH, his sister Ruth A. Hamelin of North Adams, his brother Kurt E. Accetta (Wendy), of Belmont, NC, his sister Vanessa G. Morris (Christian) of Aworth, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a private family burial with military honors at Southview Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
