CLARKSBURG, Mass. —  It is with heavy hearts that we share with everyone the passing of Doris Margaret (Bona) Sartori, 96, of Clarksburg, MA, who died peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026 at the home in which she was born and shared with her beloved husband, Aldo and family.

She was born in Clarksburg, MA, on March 21, 1930, the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna (Toniatti) Bona. Doris attended schools in Clarksburg and Drury High School.

Doris worked tirelessly in many capacities bringing her “larger than life” personality, devotion, joyful spirit and skills to every task and person she encountered. She worked for the Incentive Community Enterprises and NOBARC as a work supervisor, building many wonderful relationships. Doris brought light, energy and laughter to all she worked with for many years. She also was employed as a cafeteria worker at Sullivan Elementary School in the North Adams Public Schools, where she was beloved by staff and students. Doris was so happy to have the opportunity to be with children of all ages. She read to students who she often thought of as her own, especially during Dr. Seuss Week. She worked for twelve years before retiring in 2003. Doris was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua/St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.

The door at the Sartori home was wide open, filled with love and music, where family and friends alike were welcome. The coffee pot was always on the stove, and Doris would expect you to share in the abundance of delicious food and good cheer!

Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband, Osvaldo “Aldo” B. Sartori, whom she married on November 20, 1948. Together they lived a life of service to each other, their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, friends and their community, for sixty-three years before his passing on July 21, 2011.

Doris leaves her daughter, Carol Sartori Nelson (Bern Goepner) of Newington, CT; and three sons, for whom she advocated for her entire life, Dennis C. Sartori of North Adams; Mark A. Sartori of Pittsfield and Robert E. Sartori of Adams. She also leaves two grandchildren and their spouses whom she adored, Elizabeth (Matthew) Nelson Resnisky of Deep River, CT, and Christopher (Sarah) Nelson of North Stonington, CT. They cheered her on and brought her hope and joy as they grew their families. She was blessed with five great-granddaughters, Lucy, Lily, Andi Kate, Mikayla, and Alexa, who were the light of her life. Mimi looked forward to their phone calls, visits and going on family vacations with them. She always had funny stories to share about everyone’s adventures. Doris had the lifelong devotion, love and support of her many nieces and nephews.

Doris came from a large family who were fiercely loyal to each other. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers Albert Bona, Alfred Bona, Gino Bona, John Bona and her sister, Mary Gleba.

On behalf of Doris’ children and grandchildren, we especially wish to extend our love and gratitude to our family members who were the center of her care team. Their devotion and care made it possible for her to remain in the home she loved dearly, allowing her to see the spectacular views of the mountain from her windows. The family also wishes to acknowledge their deep appreciation and gratitude to the devoted staff, who gave comfort and care to Doris including Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association, Personalized Private Care, Elder Services of Berkshire County, MOLARI Home and Healthcare Services. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses throughout Berkshire County, including Williamstown Medical Associates, who provided extraordinary care and support for the entire family.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Doris Sartori will be celebrated Saturday September 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the church are Saturday September 26th from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UCP of Berkshire County; BFAIR, or Guidewire, who continue to provide loving care to her three sons whom Doris and Aldo adored.
