Herbert Crunden Sr.

Herbert T. Crunden Sr., 90, of 294 Foley Hill Road died yesterday at Timberlyn Heights in Great Barrington. Born in Hartland, Conn., on Aug. 7, 1911, son of Herbert and Bettie Madra Crunden, he attended schools there. He was a self-employed tree farmer, selling Christmas trees for many years on his farm. He was also known for his vegetables. He and his wife also bred and raised dachshunds. His wife, the former Alta Madra, died Oct. 14, 2000. He leaves a son, Herbert T. Crunden Jr. at home; two brothers, Paul T. Crunden of Hartland and Clayton Crunden of Morriston, Fla., and a sister, Phyllis Pease of Riverton, Conn. Services will be Friday, March 22, at 1 p.m. at the Mill River Center Cemetery, Mill River, with the Rev. Chet Howe officiating. There are no calling hours. The BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, is in charge of arrangements.
