Cecile H. McKay

Cecile Helen McKay, 85, of 302 Eagle St. died Saturday at North Adams Commons, where she was admitted March 20. Born in North Adams on Dec. 12, 1916, daughter of Emile and Philomene Labrie Fournier, she attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School and graduated from Drury High School in 1935. Mrs. McKay was last employed by the Massachusetts Department of Employment Security office. Before that, she was a service representative for the former New England Telephone Co. and, for six years, worked for the former J.C. Penney Co. store. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of its Rosary Society, and a longtime member of Le Cercle Francais and a former volunteer at the Women's Exchange in Williamstown. Her husband, Francis J. McKay, whom she married Feb. 19, 1944, died Jan. 1, 2002. She leaves three sons, David J. McKay of North Adams, Daniel F. McKay of North Port, Fla., and Brian C. McKay of Adams, and eight grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 8:15 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to the Adult Day Care Center, North Adams, through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
