Marion W. Drake

Marion Willis Drake, 79, of 290 Great Barrington Road, the Williamsville section of West Stockbridge, died Tuesday at Craneville Place in Dalton, where she had resided for six months. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 22, 1923, daughter of Robert W. and Grace VanKeuren Willis, she was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended Berkshire Business College. Mrs. Drake was employed for a number of years as a secretary at the Stockbridge Plain School and the Berkshire Hills Regional School District, retiring in 1983. She was a former member of the West Stockbridge Congregational Church and a member of the Yankee Pride Quilt Guild. Her husband, Paul F. Drake, whom she married Sept. 14, 1942, died June 18, 1995. She leaves two sons, David P. Drake of Albuquerque, N.M., and Steven L. Drake of Dalton; a daughter, Lauren Novik of Belchertown; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. Cremation will follow. Burial will be in the Rockdale Cemetery in West Stockbridge at a later date. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home at 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
