Arthur O. Teichert

Arthur Otto Teichert, 89, of 1065 Massachusetts Ave. died yesterday at home. Born in North Adams on Nov. 4, 1912, son of Otto and Emma Schantenz Teichert, he was a graduate of Drury High School. He was employed by the former Railway Express Co. for 25 years as a driver, retiring in 1967. Mr. Teichert was a communicant of the former Incarnation Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 310, and a charter member of the Greylock Community Club. He was an avid cribbage player and a former member of the Waubeeka Golf Club in Williamstown. In his youth, he played baseball and had a tryout with the former Boston Braves. He leaves his wife, the former Edythe G. Button, whom he married June 8, 1936; two sons, Robert J. Teichert of Dalton and William A. Teichert of Cheshire; eight grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 9:15 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Merch Shrine. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 6 to 8. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire Inc. through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
