Marion Tracy

Marion Tracy, 90, of Ashburn, Va., a native of Great Barrington, died Thursday at Gordon House Nursing Home in Gordonsville, Va., where she had resided for one day. Born on July 1, 1911, daughter of Cecil D. and Ann Gorman Miles, she was a 1929 graduate of the former Searles High School. She received her bachelor's degree from the former Framingham State Teachers College in 1933 and her master's degree from the former North Adams State Teachers College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, in 1958. Mrs. Tracy taught at Housatonic Elementary School under a program of the Works Progress Administration until her marriage in 1935. She resumed her career in 1954 in Housatonic and retired in 1977. After the death of her husband, Thomas P. Tracy, on Aug. 20, 1980, she moved to Florida, where she resided until 1993, when she moved to Virginia. She and her husband were married June 28, 1935, in St. Peter's Church. She leaves three sons, Thomas M. Tracy of Bethesda, Md., James L. Tracy, with whom she resided, and John D. Tracy of Schenectady, N.Y., and six grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Friday, April 19, at 10 at St. James' Episcopal Church in Great Barrington by the Rev. John Tarrant, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Stockbridge. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Stockbridge. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 18, from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James' Church in care of the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
