Wilfred Lee "Jed" West, 58, of Summerville, S.C., formerly of Pittsfield, died March 31 at Medical University of South Carolina after a long illness. Born in Summerville on Sept. 6, 1943, son of Carrie Lee West and the late Isaiah West, he graduated in 1961 from Alston High School in Summerville. He lived in New York before moving in 1969 to Pittsfield, where he worked at Western Massachusetts Electric Co. for 20 years. He returned to Summerville in 1989. He was a member of Campbell Hill United Methodist Church. Besides his mother, of Summerville, he leaves a son, James Gardner West of Pittsfield; two brothers, Nick West of Pittsfield and Donaver West of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Linda W. Carter of Summerville, and two grandchildren. Another son, William Gardner West died in 1993. A Service of Death and Resurrection was held Thursday, April 4, at Campbell Hill United Methodist Church in Summerville. Burial was in Campbell Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Summerville.
