Ashley Chaffee Sr.

Ashley G. Chaffee Sr., 47, of Blandford Road, East Otis, died Tuesday morning at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a long illness. Born in London, England, on April 25, 1954, son of Donald A. Chaffee Sr. and Evelyn Gray Chaffee, he moved to Otis as a young child and attended local schools. He graduated from Lee High School in 1972. He served in the Air Force from 1973 to 1974. Mr. Chaffee was employed as an area supervisor for Pride Convenience Stores in the Western Massachusetts area and O'Connell's Convenience Stores in the Berkshires for many years. He was a former member of the Kiwanis of Otis and the Otis Grange. Besides his parents, both of East Otis, he leaves his wife, the former Lisa L. Verville, whom he married Oct. 10, 1992; three sons, Shaun W. Chaffee of New Hampshire, Ashley G. Chaffee Jr. of Middletown, N.Y., and Christopher Chaffee of Lee; a daughter, Melissa A. Mestre of Springfield; three brothers, Donald A. Chaffee Jr., Clayton N. Chaffee and Leslie H. Chaffee, all of East Otis, and a grandson. He was predeceased by a sister, Dawn Chaffee, who died in 1996. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery.
