Lucy R. Cozzaglio

Lucy Rita Cozzaglio, 82, of 31 Veazie St. died yesterday at Williamstown Commons. She had resided there since January 2001. Born in North Adams on Feb. 25, 1920, daughter of Saverio and Nicolina Gagliano Esposito, she was educated in local schools. Mrs. Cozzaglio was employed in the food service at the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, for 28 years, retiring in 1985. Before that, she worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. and the former Sprague Electric Co. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She was a longtime volunteer with the church's bazaar committee and a former member of the North Adams Lodge 704, Sons of Italy. Her husband, Angelo Joseph "Lilly" Cozzaglio, whom she married May 1, 1943, in St. Anthony's Church, died July 24, 1992. She leaves a son, James J. Cozzaglio of Adams; a sister, Lettie Demo of North Adams; a brother, Dominic Esposito of North Adams, and a grandson. She was predeceased by siblings Mary Arabia, Jessie Scavo, Theresa Trozzi and Frank and Horace Esposito. Services will be Thursday, May 2, at 9:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Parish Center, 68 Marshall St., by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, May 1, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the St. Anthony Building Fund or Williamstown Commons Residents' Fund through the funeral home.
