Dorothy Hankey

Dorothy R. Hankey, 75, of 70 Cottage Lane, Ashley Falls, died Wednesday at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Jan. 16, 1927, daughter of Arthur and Anna Hesselberg Kimble, she moved to Great Barrington as a child and graduated from the former Searles High School in 1944. She had resided in New Lebanon, N.Y., for seven years before moving to Ashley Falls in March. She had worked at the former Montgomery Ward catalog office on Railroad Street, at the counter at the former Red Barn and at the former Zayre Department Store, all in Great Barrington. She leaves two sons, James C. Stalker of Pittsfield and Craig Stalker of Enfield, Conn.; two daughters, Diane Farnham, with whom she resided, and Sheri Hankey of Pittsfield; a brother, Frank Kimble of California; a sister, Ann Ganz of the Bronx; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a great-greatgrandchild. Her longtime companion, Herbert Schneider, died June 24, 2001. The funeral and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., is in charge of arrangements.
